PERFORMANCES AND ACTIVITIES

Samruk-Kazyna JSC's Public Council was informed of the status of KEGOC and Samruk-Energy's preparations for the upcoming autumn-winter period of 2023–2024.

The participants were updated by Nabi Aitzhanov, Chairman of the Management Board of KEGOC, on the status of planned maintenance tasks, the execution of investment projects for the development of the NPG, and the electricity balance forecast for the upcoming autumn-winter season.

Every year, the company plans and executes a sizable amount of repair and maintenance work on overhead power lines and substation equipment in order to ensure the national power grid's dependable operation and to ready power grid facilities for the successful navigation through the winter season.

574 facilities are scheduled for repairs in 2023, costing a total of KZT 2.5 billion. 485 facilities, or 84% of the annual plan, were repaired in the first nine months of 2023. According to the schedule, work on buildings, structures, and transportation will be finished in November and December, and repairs to lines and substation equipment will be finished by the end of October. This year's deadline for receiving the winter season readiness certificate is October 19.

The Kazakhstan Electricity Transmission Rehabilitation Project was finished in two stages by the company by 2019 including modernization of 67 electrical substations and complete replacement of relay protection and emergency control equipment.

Additionally, in accordance with KEGOC's approved investment programme, the Company is continuing to replace the remaining high-voltage equipment with newer, more advanced, and more dependable equipment as part of the rehabilitation and modernization of existing production assets. To date over 80% of the electrical substations' equipment has been replaced.

To maintain the current level of operations, capital expenditures of KZT 19.2 billion were budgeted for 2023, with KZT 8.6 billion budgeted for the first nine months; however, KZT 11.3 billion have been spent instead, representing a 31% overachievement. The work will be completed by the end of the year, per the plan. The 2024 budget is KZT 24,2 billion.

KEGOC continues to work on the development of the national power grid. By the end of 2023, two projects will be completed: "Rehabilitation of 220-500 kV OHTL’s at Aktyubinskye MES, Zapadnye MES and Sarbaiskiye MES branches of KEGOC" and "West Kazakhstan Electricity Transmission Reinforcement Project. Construction of power grid facilities". Also, the company started implementation of the project "South Kazakhstan Electricity Transmission Reinforcement Project" according to the schedule.

During the Public Council meeting, participants inquired about the company's plans to improve the reliability of energy equipment, measures to provide the necessary grid infrastructure for the widespread incorporation of renewable energy sources into the energy balance, and other KEGOC-related matters.

The purpose of the Public Council's hearings is to increase the transparency and accountability of the activities of the group's national companies. The feedback received during the hearing improves the companies' activities in these areas.
